Right BC Pattern
Definition
A structural pattern involving the right brachial chain -- the right pectoralis, right anterior deltoid, right latissimus, and associated right trunk musculature. Typically presents as right thorax rotation, right scapular protraction, and left thorax elevation. Often overlays on top of a Left AIC pattern.
Clinical Significance
The Right BC pattern explains why many people have right shoulder symptoms, right-sided neck tension, and asymmetric thoracic rotation. It drives right scapular protraction, reduces right shoulder external rotation, and contributes to right-sided impingement. Understanding this pattern allows practitioners to address thoracic rotation and rib cage position rather than treating the shoulder in isolation.
How AKMI Assesses This
AKMI identifies the Right BC pattern through bilateral shoulder ROM comparison, thoracic rotation assessment, scapular position measurement, and rib cage orientation testing. Cross-referenced with Left AIC findings to determine pattern layering.
