Flow Motion Gait Screen (3D Movement Assessment)
Setup
Client walking at their natural pace on a flat surface. Three camera angles recommended: anterior, posterior, and lateral. At least 20 gait cycles for reliable observation.
Cueing
Step 1: Observe the whole-body movement flow from distal to proximal (foot-ankle-knee-hip-pelvis-spine-shoulders-head). Step 2: Note where the flow breaks -- which joint fails to transmit motion to the next segment. Step 3: Observe the three planes of motion at each joint: sagittal (flex/ext), frontal (abd/add), transverse (rotation). Step 4: Identify the primary 'blocked' joint and plane. Step 5: Observe arm swing amplitude and symmetry.
Measurement
Free text description of flow breaks. Note: which joint, which plane, which phase of gait (loading/mid-stance/propulsion). Rate overall flow quality on a 1-10 scale. Identify the primary intervention target based on where the motion chain first breaks down.
