Foot Strike Pattern (Dynamic Gait)
Setup
Client walks along a 10 m corridor at self-selected speed. Camera positioned at ground level laterally to capture initial foot contact. Repeat 3-5 passes.
Cueing
Step 1: 'Walk at your normal, comfortable pace.' Do NOT tell the client what you are observing (avoid gait modification). Step 2: Observe initial contact: heel-strike, midfoot, or forefoot. Step 3: Observe pronation timing: does the foot pronate at initial contact (early) or at midstance (normal)? Step 4: Observe toe-off: is there adequate hallux extension and push?
Measurement
Pattern: heel-strike-normal / heel-strike-heavy / midfoot-contact / forefoot-contact / cross-over-gait / excessive-pronation / excessive-supination. Record bilateral.
