Proximal-to-Distal Integration Screen

Full Body Professional Assessment Kit Movement Screen full body

Setup

Client performing a series of reaching movements. Camera full body from anterior and lateral views.

Cueing

Step 1: Instruct the client to reach overhead with each arm individually while standing. Observe rib cage position -- does the rib cage rotate or shift to accommodate the reach? Step 2: Have the client reach across midline with each hand. Note if the rib cage maintains position or if it follows the hand. Step 3: Observe if changes achieved in proximal segments (rib cage, pelvis) translate to distal segments (extremities) during integrated movement.

Measurement

Pattern select: integrated-bilateral / proximal-dominant / distal-dominant / disconnected. Note: successful rehabilitation and training requires changes in the axial skeleton to carry into the extremities. If proximal improvements exist but distal patterns persist, the integration step is missing.

Modality

Supported: Remote / Active
Not available: In-Person / Passive
